It’s been a little over 10 months since the twins Zoey and Baylor Blythe were born prematurely at just 26 weeks. Despite the challenges they’ve faced from the start, including Zoey’s brain shunt and Baylor’s digestive issues, their parents, Zach and Alyson Blythe, have been a beacon of strength, watching their girls grow into the resilient, joyful babies they are today.

Alyson recently shared an emotional update with their friends and family, reflecting on the incredible progress the twins have made in the past few months. “What a true miracle it has been to watch these girls grow over the last 10 months. It’s hard to believe we are creeping up on their FIRST birthday!” she wrote, filled with gratitude and awe for the journey they’ve been on.

Baylor’s Progress: A True Fighter

The good news is that Baylor, who has been nothing short of a fighter, is thriving. Since surviving meningitis and the challenges that came with it, Baylor has surpassed every expectation. She recently passed her hearing test, a major milestone, and has been developing well. She is now sitting up a little on her own and absolutely loves playing in her exersaucer. At 16 lbs 4 oz, she’s packing on the weight, and Alyson describes her as “pure chunk!” Baylor has proven her strength time and again, weathering every illness that’s come her way since June with remarkable resilience. “We are so thankful for her strength and progress,” says Alyson, a sentiment we can all relate to as we cheer on Baylor’s achievements.

Zoey’s Journey: Resilience in the Face of Adversity

While Baylor has made tremendous strides, Zoey’s journey has been a bit more challenging. Her path hasn’t been as smooth, but her determination has shone through. Zoey has had frequent hospital visits, which Alyson jokingly refers to as “vacations” from the chaos of home life. Zoey recently passed her right ear hearing test, but unfortunately, she failed her left, possibly due to ongoing congestion. The very morning of her hearing test, Zoey became severely ill and was struggling to breathe, her oxygen levels dropping to 80–83%. The rapid decline led to a five-day hospital stay, but Zoey is now back at home and doing much better.

Zoey’s chronic lung disease means she faces greater challenges when illness strikes, but her progress continues to inspire. Though she is a bit behind developmentally and doesn’t yet have full sight, Zoey’s determination is unmatched. She is growing, working hard to sit up, and, most importantly, smiling through it all. At 14 lbs 14 oz, Zoey is a bundle of joy, resilience, and strength. Her spirit shines brightly, even in the face of adversity.

A Loving Sibling Bond

No matter what the twins have been through, there’s one constant in their lives: their big brother. As Alyson writes, “One thing is for sure—both girls think big brother hung the moon.” His love for them is mutual, and the girls are his biggest fans. No matter what he does, Zoey and Baylor are always full of giggles, cheering him on in their own unique ways. Their sibling bond is one of pure joy and love, reminding us all of the power of family connections.
